Wednesday 9th May 2012 Dave Lynch, VP Resource, BP North Sea

Dave is the Vice President Resource for BP’s North Sea (UK/Norway) business which includes a diverse mix of reservoirs and a portfolio ranging from exploration leads, to late life production and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) developments.

He joined BP in 1986 after graduating in Geology from Aberdeen University. He has worked throughout the E&P value chain in BP’s offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow, London and Bogota.

He spent his first three years working offshore in various operational roles before moving to the office initially working as a geologist on exploration opportunities in the North Sea and then moving slightly downstream to appraise and develop the Andrew and Foinaven oil fields.

An opportunity in Colombia to work on the production start-up of the giant Cupiagua field, gave Dave and his family a fantastic 5-year cultural and professional experience. Salsa skills honed, Dave then returned to Aberdeen to lead the West of Shetlands field development team bringing in new phases of production into one of BP’s harshest subsea developments.

As part of the shift to a functional organisation in BP’s North Sea Region, Dave took on the role of Head of Subsurface in Aberdeen where he implemented the first fully functional model for a subsurface organisation within BP and laid the foundations for the current activity set that is helping drive the Region vision of delivering a high quality business for the long term. His move to VP Resource is now enabling him to fully deploy BP’s assets to this challenge.

Married to Gail with a couple of kids – Ellie (16) and Calum (11) - his big thing is mountain biking, but he really likes all types of sport, but is confused by unfathomable cricket.

Thursday 10th May 2012 Dr Marcus Richards, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dana Petroleum plc

Dr Marcus Richards joined Dana Petroleum plc as Group Chief Executive Officer in March 2011, following its $2.9 billion acquisition by the Korean National Oil Corporation.

Prior to this Marcus worked as a consultant providing advice to a range of exploration and production (E&P) companies and the financial sector.

Until mid-2009, Marcus was Senior Vice President in the BP corporate headquarters in London covering the upstream E&P and downstream refining businesses. He was previously Director and Business Unit Leader of BP’s North Sea businesses covering the UK, the Netherlands and Norway.

During his 27 year career with BP, Marcus managed large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams across operations, major projects, and research and development. He has spent a significant part of his career outside the UK and Europe with assignments in the United States, Australia, China and Indonesia.

He holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD and is an alumni of Harvard University (Executive Management Program). He is also a visiting professor at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

He is married with two sons.
