This year’s core workshop will take place during the coffee breaks and lunch on both days of the Conference and will focus on fluvial facies from Triassic age core. The workshop will be hosted by Angela Melvin (AM Geos), Tom Mckie, (Shell) and Nigel Bramwell (ConocoPhillips), featuring key cores from both the ‘J’ Fields (ConocoPhillips) and Greater Marnock Field areas (Shell)

DEVEX Field Trip – Monday 7th May 2018
The 2018 DEVEX Field Trip, sponsored by ConocoPhillips, will be led by Mark Bentley (AGR Tracs) and will visit the Hopeman Sandstones, near Elgin. The theme of the fieldtrip will be reservoir heterogeneity – the outcrops are mainly aeolian sandstones but we will also be looking for evidence of fluvial processes and tying the fieldtrip in with the themes of the Devex Triassic core workshop (reservoir heterogeneity and influence on production). There will be the opportunity to look for faulting, damage zones, cementation and other heterogeneity; we can also consider reservoir modelling and simulation issues based on the outcrop. The field locations will be at Burghead beach and Clashach quarry and we will leave Aberdeen by bus at around 8:00 am and aim to return to Aberdeen at 5:30-6:00 pm. Lunch and transport will be included in the cost which is £45 plus VAT per person.
